Calling Out To God!
The words penitentiary and penitent are rooted together in their origins. Webster's Dictionary defines penitent as: "(adj.) to be sorry, cause to be sorry: feeling or expressing pain or sorrow for sins or offenses: sincerely affected by a sense of guilt and resolved on amendment of life." The penitentiary was designed to be a place where men and women who have violated the laws of this land can find penitence However, as you and I both know...no one can find true, lasting penitence without first calling out to God, repenting of our sins, and accepting the free gift of grace and forgiveness found only in the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
The Lion's Roar is a monthly non-denominational publication dedicated to the evangelistic message of the love, hope, and grace of Jesus Christ.

Reconciliation Through Christ
The publication gives a constant message of hope, love, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Today there are more that 2.2 million people incarcerated in the United States of America (not including county jails). Approximately 29,000 people are presently locked away in Tennessee alone. Each day men and women of this nation are cast into an extremely dark and bleak place, where the thought of God's grace, hope, and blessing is more than often forgotten or over shadowed by the struggles of incarceration. These people need to be reminded that through the shed blood of Christ, there is reconciliation, forgiveness, love, hope, joy, and the promise of a better tomorrow and for all eternity.
The Lion's Roar will also sponsor a yearly revival and meal, a Christmas in July hygiene package, and a Christian book donation drive to benefit each of the prisons that the publication is ministering to. Through this publication inmates will also be able to sign up for a card ministry that will provide holiday, birthday, graduation, and other special day cards to celebrate with their loved one(s). Furthermore, the publication will offer special affordable holiday gift offers for the inmates to purchase and have shipped to their loved ones in the free world.
Prayerfully Sponsor An Inmate
We need to obtain partnerships with individuals and churches to obtain the needed resources to fund this ministry fully. Currently, we are ministering through this project on and extremely small scale. We are asking that individuals prayerfully Sponsor one or more inmates per year. For the extremely small amount of $12 per year, a person can share the Gospel of Christ and the hope of His salvation with an imprisoned person for an entire year! Through both the individual and church partnerships we can reach this goal and share God with cast away, forgotten, hurting, lonely, people that God loves enough that He send His only begotten Son, in order that they all may believe, repent, and call upon His name and be saved.
